Valerie, a Yoga Instructor in action

Valerie, a talented yoga instructor in the Waterloo, Ontario area, was looking for some images to use in her portfolio as well as for some personal promotional material. Valerie came into the studio and set up her yoga mat right off the bat! After some stretching and breathing exercises, she was ready to go. We did a series shoot of various images. Each photograph I took, she carefully explained to me what she was looking to achieve so that I could verify on camera the accuracy of her pose. Both of us learned lots that day!

Valerie says, “I have known Sandra since 2004 and her artistic flair has always been clear. Her dedication to the arts is apparent not only in the professionalism and skill of her work, but also in the comfort she provides to her clients. She is relaxed, warm and friendly, and her photography is fresh, fun and creative. I particularly appreciated Sandra’s ability to capture personal uniqueness in a warm, understanding way. Sandra stands out as a trustworthy and passionate photographer.”

Candice Head Shots

Photographed back in 2006, Candice had never had professional style photographs before. She was a bit shy to have cameras in her face, but once we got into shooting a bit, she opened up and giggled lots! I was quite pleased with some of the head shots that we did back then, as I was just learning how to use the lighting equipment. Candice was a great little model and I’d surely work with her again in the future!

“I suck in life” – Health Canada Campaign

While attending Wilfrid Laurier University, I took a advertising class in which we had to some up with a campaign designed around a re-style of an existing campaign. I decided that the Health Canada campaign could a kick so that it would appeal to a younger generation of youth, promoting healthy eating. I came up with these images after model Vanessa agreed to act serious while “sucking in life”. I am not a designer so putting together the advertisement layout was a challenge. The campaign concept was a success and I got a perfect mark back from the professor! (Post has no direct association with Heath Canada)

Rocker Chick Portrait Shoot

Anna always had a funky look to her! I asked her if she’d help me out with a rocker-style photoshoot using some instruments and red polka dots! She was happy to jump into the studio and was pleased with the results! Anna says “Sandra is a professional and a true delight to work with! From the moment I arrived on the rocker chick shoot, I was welcomed and made feel comfortable. I can’t thank her enough for capturing the part of me that feels sexy and cutting-edge. She is so encouraging and her creative ideas about costumes and props for the shoot made the whole experience a total blast! I’d definitely work with her again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to others.”

Fun with Sydney

Sydney and I had a fun time practising with some lighting equipment and prop setups on this series. I was doing some stock photography and we seemingly got a bit carried away when the corn came out of the fridge! Afterward we went out for drinks in downtown Waterloo, Ontario. Sydney, a fellow photographer, was a great model for this shoot! Thanks again for your time and great energy on this day back in 2006!
