Long Shadows and Cool Days on the Court

I’m sure many of us are thankful this year for the mild Toronto winter we have had to date. Long shadows cast over cool days on this local basketball court back on this January 6th, 2010 afternoon. This image was shot following one of our few fresh snow dump in West Toronto. I loved the simplicity of the shapes created by the long shadows, how my eye was naturally drawn into the centre of the image and how the sun lined up perfectly in the background.

Waterloo, Ontario in the Winter

I went for a long winter walk shortly after a snow storm had taken place in Waterloo, Ontario. I shot these three images around the Grand River in Waterloo. I tried to take simple subject matter and compose the photographs in a way that would provoke a bit of extra thought into each result.

Frost Morning

Waking up early one November morning back in 2006, I noticed some beautiful patterns forming when the frost built up on the grass and leaves. I attempted to create a series of natural elements with simple shape.
