Me to We Style at the U of T Bookstore

Last month, I had an opportunity to work with the University of Toronto’s Bookstore, photographing an advertisement for the clothing line, Me To We Style. The client had a very strict idea in mind of what they wanted in terms of location, angle, model, and clothing.

Following the shoot, the layout artists put together this final composition after selecting the shot they felt would best suit their needs. This is the design proof of the image, thus it is a bit blurry and the type is not fully set.

Me to We Style is committed to providing ethically manufactured, quality apparel for the socially conscious consumer. This product line is domestically produced, sweatshop-free and made using certified organic cotton and bamboo. In addition, 50 per cent of the profits goes to their charity partner, Free The Children, to support development projects in rural and impoverished areas across the globe. “I suck in life” – Health Canada Campaign

While attending Wilfrid Laurier University, I took a advertising class in which we had to some up with a campaign designed around a re-style of an existing campaign. I decided that the Health Canada campaign could a kick so that it would appeal to a younger generation of youth, promoting healthy eating. I came up with these images after model Vanessa agreed to act serious while “sucking in life”. I am not a designer so putting together the advertisement layout was a challenge. The campaign concept was a success and I got a perfect mark back from the professor! (Post has no direct association with Heath Canada)

Fun with Sydney

Sydney and I had a fun time practising with some lighting equipment and prop setups on this series. I was doing some stock photography and we seemingly got a bit carried away when the corn came out of the fridge! Afterward we went out for drinks in downtown Waterloo, Ontario. Sydney, a fellow photographer, was a great model for this shoot! Thanks again for your time and great energy on this day back in 2006!

Giancarlo Mixed Bag

Giancarlo is one of our great friends who Steve has known since childhood. Giancarlo had come to us looking for some modeling shots to add to his growing portfolio. We shot some images outdoors using various walls, bricks and buildings as backdrops. Afterward we went back to the house and ate dinner, followed by some additional fun with the ring flash. The second shot you see was done with the intention of Giancarlo looking almost like a cat eating a toy…don’t even ask how I came up with that one!

Garine Personal Portrait Shoot

Garine came to me looking for some head shots for a written work that she was looking to have published. I asked her to bring along some props and things so that once we were done the head shots that she had requested, we could take some personal shots with some of her favourite things. Garine was a great model to work with and brought a lot of her own personality into each of the images.
