All Art is Erotic

One of my favourite artists, Gustav Klimt, once said that “All Art is Erotic”. Have you ever had a photograph or two that really inspired you to test out your own abilities? A few weeks back I saw an image where an artist made different foods resemble “reproduction”. I wanted to try my own skills using an apple.

For this shot, I used a telephoto lens combined with three Kenko macro tubes. For lighting, I placed a flash behind the subject to achieve the backlit glow.

Following the Harvest

Ever notice how the simplest of things catch your eye when you’ve got a camera in hand? Our neighbour grew beans this past summer and left the support twine up following the harvest. I especially loved the way the twine crossed into an X pattern against the red wall. I achieved these results by pairing some Kenko macro tubes with a mid-range prime and an external light setup.

Tiffany Setting Classic Engagement Ring

This is a photograph of a Tiffany & Co. engagement ring in the Tiffany Setting. I used a set of Kenko macro tubes so that I could see the detail of the diamond in close range. The green surface the ring rests on is the Tiffany & Co. leather pouch that came with the ring.

We tried composing the shot without the black in the background, but found it added to the quiet structure of the image. I feel it created an element of infinite horizon.

Macro Eye

Steve and I went to Waterloo Park, located just downtown Waterloo, Ontario, shortly after getting a set of Kenko macro tubes. I shot this image of Steve’s eye after we got the hang of how to use the setup combination. I was impressed with the clarity and detail that simple Kenko tubes could add to any lens! Impressive and highly recommended. Thanks again Steve for modelling your eyeball!
