Thai Sun Restaurant Stock

In the winter of 2007, Steve and I walked up to the local Thai Sun Restaurant, located in Waterloo, Ontario for some Pad Thai. I shot off these images with stock purposes in mind. I was excited by the colours, textures and lighting that this restaurant offered. The modern feel, the great service and the tasty food made this journey a real treat – not to a great photographic opportunity. Would highly recommend that if you are in the KW region, check out this restaurant.

Filmstrip of Us

My lively Stephen and I did this little filmstrip series while on a winter walk in downtown Kitchener, Ontario back in 2007. Steve did a great job adding an antique feel to the series. I shot the images simply by holding my arm out into the air and luckily aiming in our direction with a wide angle lens. We had no additional lighting for this series. Since Steve and I are always behind the cameras, it was great to have some shots of us in together! This filmstrip is one of my favourite shots of us.

Valerie, a Yoga Instructor in action

Valerie, a talented yoga instructor in the Waterloo, Ontario area, was looking for some images to use in her portfolio as well as for some personal promotional material. Valerie came into the studio and set up her yoga mat right off the bat! After some stretching and breathing exercises, Valerie was ready to go. We did a series shoot of various images. Each photograph I took, she carefully explained to me what she was looking to achieve so that I could verify on camera the accuracy of her pose. Both of us learned lots that day!

Valerie says, “I have known Sandra since 2004 and her artistic flair has always been clear. Her dedication to the arts is apparent not only in the professionalism and skill of her work, but also in the comfort she provides to her clients. She is relaxed, warm and friendly, and her photography is fresh, fun and creative. I particularly appreciated Sandra’s ability to capture personal uniqueness in a warm, understanding way. Sandra stands out as a trustworthy and passionate photographer.”

LOCUS @ Wilfrid Laurier University

During my time at Wilfrid Laurier University, I studied in the honours Communications Studies program for my undergrad. A club leader approached me and asked me to shoot a group portrait for the yearbook. I shot this image on my final day of being an undergrad at Wilfrid Laurier University. It was a great way to end a four year journey of learning! This is the L.O.C.U.S. group shot at Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario. March, 2007.

Waterloo, Ontario in the Winter

I went for a long winter walk shortly after a snow storm had taken place in Waterloo, Ontario. I shot these three images around the Grand River in Waterloo. I tried to take simple subject matter and compose the photographs in a way that would provoke a bit of extra thought into each result.
