Surfing in Lahinch, Ireland

Lahinch is a village on Liscannor Bay, on the northwest coast of County Clare, in northern Munster, Ireland. Lahinch has become renowned as one of the foremost surfing locations in Ireland, as well as other water-sports including kitesurfing and windsurfing. While visiting the area, I managed to get down there and witness a surfing lesson taking place.

I did a painting of the this first original photograph you can find here.

The Cliffs of Moher, Ireland

The Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland’s top Visitor attractions. The Cliffs are 214m high at the highest point and range for 8 kilometres over the Atlantic Ocean on the western seaboard of County Clare. You can see the O’Brien’s Tower standing proudly on the headland of the majestic Cliffs.

University of Limerick, Ireland

I participated in a four month international exchange program at the University of Limerick located in southwest Ireland back in 2006. I shot well over a few thousand photographs, documenting everything around my life while studying. Things were new and fresh and I never felt a feeling of ever having photographed everything already. Near the end of my term, I contacted the university’s Marketing Department and offered to meet with them so that they could review my work. After displaying my favourites on a slideshow, the school’s Marketing Director decided to purchase printing rights to a selection of my images. Here are a few of my favourites of the purchased bunch!

“I met Sandra in 2006 when she was at the University of Limerick, Ireland. I very quickly saw that she was a fine photographer and commissioned her to shoot some images for our prospectus. This proved to be a smart move, as she produced some great shots for us. Sandra’s work is vibrant, youthful and imaginative. She brings a fresh style and an original eye to her photography. Her work does not look like anyone else’s. It is unique. It is clear from her images that she loves people. Her portraits are warm, human and compassionate and she really captures the best of her sitters’ personalities.” – Sean Reidy, Marketing Director, University of Limerick, Ireland
