2005 Vanier Cup Champions

The Vanier Cup (in French: Coupe Vanier) is the name of the championship of Canadian Interuniversity Sport football and the name of the trophy awarded to the victorious team. I shot the following photos from the 2005 Vanier Cup championship game between the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks. WIth a final score of 24-23 for the Golden Hawks, this game was intense to the very last second. Ryan Pyear took home the Ted Morris Memorial Trophy and David Montoya took home the Bruce Coulter Award. The game was played at the Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario on December 3, 2005. Steve and I were selected as the primary photographers for the Student Publications Newspaper that ran out of WIlfrid Laurier University.

Human Colour Wheel

Our eyes are our most magnificent tool. They give us the gift of sight. Sight allows us to see light. Light is simply waves moving at different frequencies which we interpret as colour. Colour can represent emotion affecting our mood and the way we interact and remember the environment around us. Colour is a universal language with no barriers. This project was completed with the help of Steve Pell. The purpose of this project was  to create a promotion piece for a graphic design class. My many faces make up the two colour sets, CMYK and RGB.

The Digital SLR Virgin

In 2005, I Sandra Howard, shot my first digital SLR photograph on the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT. Remember theses? I do! Over the past 6 years, I have been through a variety of learning phases and an equally wide variety of camera bodies.

Proceeding in order, my first film body camera was a Pentax MX. Upon moving to a digital body, I bought a Canon PowerShot S500 point and shoot, followed by a more advanced point and shoot, the Canon PowerShot S50. I then went with a more advanced lens system on the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT. My passion for the hobby had me craving for more each day, eventually I treated myself by upgrading to the Canon EOS 20D. Today, I use both a Canon EOS 5D and a Canon EOS 5D Mark II in my work-flow.
