Watercolour Flower Paintings

At the age of 15 years old, I did these two pieces while experimenting with simple watercolour paints and complimentary colour schemes that I was learning about in my high school art classes. The first image of the rose was an original photograph that I shot in my mother’s backyard. When creating a painting of the photograph, I felt that using a cool/warm colour scheme would allow for the pop I was looking for. The second image was done after taking my first watercolour course at the Burlington Artist Gallery in Burlington, Ontario.

Charcoal Hand Drawing Study

Give or take ten years ago, I went through a phase of  drawing human figures. As a right-handed artist myself, my left hand would sit day by day, just begging to be recognized. One day the light caught my hand in the most perfect way, so I took the opportunity to record it.

I grabbed a nearby charcoal and drew every shadow and highlight detail I saw. The drawing was completed using black and white charcoal pencils.
